How Dentons Pregnancy Support Pillow helped me stay calm and sleep better during pregnancy.
As mothers, we look for things that can help us with pregnancy discomfort by sleeping sounder, feeling better and supporting the baby we're nursing. I decided to invest in Denton's Pregnancy Support Pillow during my first trimester to see if I could finally get that comfortable nights sleep.
You’re feeling exhausted - you’ve been living for two lately, and sleep has now become a more important factor than ever.
Your bump, however, doesn’t help. Sound familiar?
We put the Dentons Pregnancy Pillow to the test to see how it helps with pregnancy problems while sleeping.
Wedge pillows are a great option - what people don’t tell you about the larger pregnancy pillows is that even though they’re comfortable, space in your bed becomes a contributing factor. A pillow too large can start creating mobility problems in your sleep. I found using a wedge pillow was perfectly compact, mobile, and supported what I needed it to.
Have you ever noticed that pregnant people have a very distinct ‘waddle’? There are a variety of reasons at play here. These include hormones your body produces to relax the body's joints and alleviate pressure from the growing baby. Hip pain, after headaches, is one of the most commonly reported pregnancy symptoms affecting 32% of birthing people.
The first body change I noticed early in the first trimester of my pregnancy was hip pain. My pregnancy pillow offered me instant relief for my aching hips at night by placing the wedge between my thighs, almost forcing me into a ‘recovery’ style position, making it hard for me to roll onto my back.
Later in my pregnancy, the relief continued when the medical advice was to avoid sleeping on my back due to the slightly increased risk of stillbirth.
Being quite heavily pregnant and working from home at a dining table was not ideal - sitting for any length of time was hard work, and required high levels of concentration on my posture. Using my pregnancy pillow to support my lower back helps decrease my discomfort, improve my posture, and soothe my overall pain levels while at my desk.
Having more than one pregnancy pillow might seem over the top, but ask my wife, who begged me to get another pregnancy pillow for the office. I needed one, trust me - I didn't just use this pillow to sleep.
I used it at my desk, when I watched TV, when I ate, and when I wasted three hours on TikTok when I should have been cleaning.
Like most of us reading this article, I wanted to know how to sleep during pregnancy without worrying about the baby, the discomfort, or the soreness experienced the next day.
Although technically a pillow for pregnant women, this pillow is also an all-rounder. I became so attached to using the Dentons Pregnancy Support Pillow that I won’t be able to sleep without it, long after the baby arrives.
